    No-Camera Viewfinder – Poor man’s Recce Device
    Nakul Sood

The No-Camera Viewfinder was rigorously tested and developed over 3 years by a cracked team of scientists with millions of rupees at their disposal for R and D.

The cardboard piece has a window neatly cut out in the 16:9 ratio, the inside edges have been darkened with a marker for better visual definition. The only factor is to determine how far to hold the cardboard from the eye. A simple test is to look through a camera viewfinder at its widest zoom setting and mentally mark points on the edge of the frame on different axes, then look through the cardboard viewfinder and move it back or forward to have those mentally marked points on the edge of the frame, now make a mental/ physical note of how far the viewfinder is from the eye and you are set to carry the viewfinder to the field.

A hands free version that also eliminates shakes can be made by attaching semi rigid metal wires to the bridge and side of a pair of spectacles, the wires holding the cardboard viewfinder on the other end of course.

A third eco-friendly version can be made by using spectacles and blackening the lens except for a clear portion in the 16:9 ratio.

Currently tests are underway to develop a way of recording images seen through the viewfinders, and editing with Final Cut Meditation. All motion effects are achieved by taking natural and chemical substances. Colour correction is done by applying various amounts of pressure directly on the eyeball. We hope to announce positive results by the 4th quarter of the financial year. Public Issue next year…
